Harvestis (formerly PSKW), evaluated Overture® A and B in two commercially grown hydroponic lettuce varieties: Multigreen 185 crispy leaf and Emeldia RZ butterhead. Treatments were applied by PhytoDrip at sowing and as a foliar spray during propagation, before transfer to commercial hydroponic gutters. Overture® A increased average head weight in both varieties: +4.9% in Multigreen 185 (315.2 g to 330.8 g) and +2.4% in Emeldia RZ (439.2 g to 449.8 g). Overture® B increased Multigreen 185 head weight by 2.9% (315.2 g to 324.5 g), but showed no improvement in Emeldia RZ.
Overture® A increased average lettuce head weight in both varieties tested. In Multigreen 185, treated heads averaged 330.8 g against 315.2 g in untreated plants, an increase of 4.9%, or 15.5 g per head. In Emeldia RZ, average head weight rose by 2.4%, from 439.2 g to 449.8 g. Overture® B increased Multigreen 185 head weight by 2.9%, with no change in Emeldia RZ. Crop quality was unaffected across the board: tipburn, rot, yellow leaf, root health and root development all scored comparably to untreated plants. For a grower, an uplift of around 15 g per head shifts a greater share of the crop into the next commercial weight class, converting directly into higher returns from the same growing space and the same cycle length.
