Summary

Concert Bio works with growers and scientists around the world to build the largest database of greenhouse plant-microbiome data: 20,000+ samples from 63 trial and sampling locations, with 44,000+ species of microbes identified. Our AI models use that data to find the beneficial microbes behind Overture® A and Overture® B, the first microbial products developed specifically to improve yield in soilless growing.

In 2024 and 2025, more than 60 Overture® trials were run with commercial growers and independent trial centres on lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Every trial compared treated and untreated plants grown side by side, at the same time and under the same conditions, so that weather, greenhouse location and other variables could not explain the result. On leafy greens, Overture® was applied to the seed at sowing, with a second application at transplant for longer-cycle crops such as whole-head lettuce. On tomato and cucumber it was applied every four weeks through the fertigation system.

“These results were made possible by growers and scientists all over the world helping us collect samples, test our products and analyse results. On behalf of everybody at Concert Bio, I want to thank you for your help. We’re delighted to show you what you’ve made possible.”

Conclusions

Overture® was developed to improve marketable yield. The average yield uplift in successful leafy green trials was +8.6%. Averaged by product, Overture® B gave +4.8% and Overture® A +4.2%.

The largest improvements came from lettuce and other leafy greens, where double-digit yield improvements are not uncommon. Tomato growers also saw good yield improvements, mainly with Overture® B. Cucumber growers saw the best results with Overture® A, with improvements typically in the +5% range.

A priority for the year was learning to match the right microbe to the right grower. Both products give good results on leafy greens, and the trials made it possible to start predicting which microbe suits a grower’s crop, system and variety before a trial begins. Overture® works across genetics from every major seed producer tested, although some varieties have a preference: leafy green varieties from BASF Nunhems responded better to Overture® B, for example, while Crispita II (Syngenta) preferred Overture® A.

The report also sets out what comes next: formulated products with long shelf life at room temperature, trials to pin down the optimal dose and frequency for each crop, and new microbes to help control diseases such as Pythium and Phytophthora.

The full report covers the trial protocol, product application and FAQs, including where Overture® is approved for use.
