Trial Summary

Horti-Tech, an independent trial centre in the Netherlands, compared six products on Skyteam (RZ) long cucumbers to evaluate their impact on yield. The plants were grown using a high-wire system on rockwool from May to October 2025. The crop was deliberately stressed, with old leaves left on the canopy to raise disease pressure.

All of the treated and untreated plants were grown in parallel in the same greenhouse under the same conditions. Overture® A was applied to plant roots as a drench at transplanting and then every four weeks. Horti-Tech recorded the harvested kilos and fruit numbers of treatment group each week, over 20 weeks of harvest.

Conclusions

Over the final seven weeks of harvest, Overture® A treated plants produced +8.2% more kilos compared to untreated plants, the best result out of any of the products tested. The extra weight came from heavier fruit (410 g on average in treated plants, 380 g on average in untreated plants). Across the entire trial, cucumbers were +4% heavier on average with Overture® A (394 g against 379 g).

Fruit numbers were the same in treated and untreated plants. Overture® A can also be used to increase the number of cucumber pieces, see our other case studies for details.

This trial followed directly after our first trial at Horti-Tech: see links below for more details.
