Trial Summary
Vertify, a world-leading independent horticultural research organisation, ran a side-by-side biostimulant trial in tomato at the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk in spring 2026, for the Crop Health Days Fruiting Vegetables. Macxize (Axia) tomatoes grafted on DRO141TX (De Ruiter) rootstock were planted in January in a high-wire system on rockwool.
Three Concert Bio products, our next-generation candidate CBP-0045, Overture® B and the microbial consortium CBP-0017, were compared with four biostimulants from other companies and with untreated plants, in four replicate blocks. The Concert Bio products were applied every two weeks from planting. Plant length, rooting, flowering and fruit set were recorded weekly, and yield was recorded over 10 harvests from late March to early June.
Conclusions
CBP-0045 produced +5.7% more kilos of tomatoes than untreated plants, the largest yield gain of the seven products in the trial. None of the four existing biostimulants improved yield by more than +2.1%. CBP-0045 was ahead of untreated plants from the second harvest onwards and stayed ahead through all ten harvests.
The effect started early. Three weeks after planting, CBP-0045 plants were +6.1% taller than untreated plants, the tallest of all treatments. Overture® B (+3.2%) and CBP-0017 (+3.9%) also produced taller plants, and at the second harvest 80.9% of Overture® B fruit was fully red against 73.3% for untreated plants.
Overture® B and CBP-0017 did not increase total yield in this short trial (−0.3% each). The trial covered 10 weeks of production in favourable spring conditions, and the plants were first treated at planting. In our earlier Vertify trials, where Overture® B was also applied to the seed, it increased yield by +2.9% and by up to +17.3%.
Yields are from three of the four replicate blocks: the untreated plot in the fourth block out-yielded every other plot in the trial by 15 to 20% and was left out. All yields are corrected for lost stems.
